Welcome to March! We have just received some much needed snow over this past week in Steamboat Springs and we might see a bit more early next week. The Bud Light Spring concert series is kicking up at the Steamboat base area and we anticipate a healthy stream of spring breakers visiting our little town over the next month. Last weekend we all had fun with March Fourth Marching Band and WinterWonderGrass brought in a huge crowd!
On top of the free concerts, there is always Sunset Happy Hour on Thursdays at the top of the Gondola. Ride up, skin up, snowshoe up, but get up top to enjoy breathtaking sunsets, good tunes, good eats and drinks. See why this little event has grown to be one of the most popular gathering places for locals and visitors.
Real estate continues to clip along and over the last week, we saw 25 properties go under contract ranging from a land parcel priced at $39k to a home in Big Valley priced at $2,395,000. It's a great time to sell if you are considering a real estate move. Some properties aren't staying on the market very long, so if you're in the market and getting a loan make sure you get set up with a local lender so you can jump on the opportunity.
Melissa Gibson from Land Title has brought us the January sales numbers. She reports: "January was a good month to start the year. Gross volume was $45.9M - up 23.45% compared to last January - and there were 78 transactions - up by 1.3%. There was a $9.79M ranch sale that boosted the overall January volume.
There were a total of 115 DOT recordings, with 50% of purchasers closing with financing at the time of sale, and 50% closing with cash.
January saw 10 Upper End unit sales compared with 14 in December. New Unit sales were down with 2 in January compared to 5 in December. There were no Bank Sales in January."
